Lingholm Estate

Day 2 – Lingholm Estate & the Lake District

Lingholm Estate

Awaken to the scenic views of the Yorkshire Dales National Park rolling past your window. As you travel along Cumbria's southern coast, let your gaze drift to the stunning panorama of the Irish Sea shimmering in the distance.

By early afternoon, you arrive in Workington - your gateway to the Lake District. Here, take a chauffeured journey to the Lingholm Estate, a Grade II-listed Victorian mansion overlooking Derwentwater where beloved novelist Beatrix Potter once spent her summers. The private quarters of this exclusive sanctuary are open solely to guests of the Britannic Explorer, and you also have a choice of excursion. Choose between guided open-water swimming, meeting alpacas or a scenic hike. For those wishing to explore a little further afield, the onboard concierge is ready to curate your ideal outing.

Reboarding the train at Penrith, tonight's meal is yet another celebration of seasonal British fine dining, followed by onboard entertainment. As the evening draws to a close, the train will rest overnight in the charming market town of Appleby on the iconic Settle-Carlisle line.

Ribblehead Viaduct

Day 3 – Along the famed Settle-Carlisle line

Ribblehead Viaduct

Awaken to a leisurely brunch in the dining car and maybe treat yourself to a freshly crafted Bellini. Today's journey is along one of England's most famous railways, the Settle-Carlisle line.

Crossing the scenic Yorkshire Dales, look out for views of the Three Peaks - Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent - as the Britannic Explorer glides over the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct. Your journey continues onwards through the heart of England, drawing the luxury train ever closer to Oxfordshire.

This evening, enjoy an unforgettable gala dinner in the exclusive splendour of the Belle Époque dining room of the two Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. Set in a 15th-century manor house, this celebrated Belmond restaurant is run by world-class chef Raymond Blanc. Ahead of you lies a remarkable night of refined Provençal-inspired indulgence in a setting crafted for celebration. Returning to the train afterwards, you spend your final night aboard.

Back to London

Day 4 – Homeward bound

Back to London

Exploring the land that inspired Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth in luxury, the Lake District has revealed itself to be one of the most beautiful corners of England. From scenic coasts to shimmering lakes and jaw-dropping fells, the Lake District has been uncovered during a visit to Lingholm Estate, while the Yorkshire Dales have been viewed from the elegance of Belmond's Britannic Explorer.

Breakfast is served as the train departs for the journey back to London. After a scenic journey, gliding through Oxfordshire and the Chilterns, bid adieu to your countryside getaway as you disembark at London Victoria this morning.
