Itinerary
Meeting our fellow travellers and Tour Manager at London Heathrow this morning, this incredible adventure gets under way immediately as we board a flight across the Atlantic to Calgary. Arriving around midday local time, we leave this shimmering city of the Canadian west to travel into the Rockies by coach.
Travelling along the Trans-Canada Highway, we pass through Native American reservations, before the imposing foothills of the Rocky Mountains gather round the route. Our destination is Banff, a quintessential Rockies town nestled beneath the imposing Cascade Mountain. We check into our hotel in mid-afternoon and the rest of the day is free to spend as you wish.
As one of the main tourist destinations in the Canadian Rockies, there are many things to do in Banff, with many shops and restaurants in its walkable town centre. Dining independently this evening, you could pop into one of the attractive eateries for some hearty and warming food.

We had a great couple of weeks enjoying wonderful scenery and hospitality. We would have given 5 stars but for some niggles surrounding miscommunications and for the quality of one hotel used for an overnight stay given the cost of the holiday. That said, we can recommend GRJ and the Rocky/Alaska experience!

Great trip, very interesting, wonderful scenery and fabulous food. Only negative was Banff gondola trip removed last minute from our itinerary which we then arranged for ourselves on our free day and so glad we did!

failed contacts in Feb by VBR due to entering email incorrectly. Also misspelled husband’s name incorrectly. This was all corrected I thought on 4/3 by Paul Alpin. He also followed up by phone on 4/4 to ensure email had come through as I had followed up the 4/3 conversation with a summary email. Completed info on mybooking section but discovered we were put with a GRJ group out of London. Correspondence asks if we are meeting group in London!! A previous letter talked about meeting in Chicago from my rail trip in the US!! Replied to email 5/23 asking for help and clarification! Sent another email on 5/27 as we were flying to Canada that day as was clear in info I had already provided. Tour manager from GRJ never got our correct email, never had correct info on how we were arriving or leaving, and never had our cruise boarding passes even though we were assured she would have all items needed. Arrived at the hotel in Banff at the same time the rest of the group arrived even though were were told by email they would not arrive to Calgary airport until 17:30 and that we had to pay our own way to Banff. Originally told in February by representative “Aldo” that transfer was covered. Banff hotel was good, Jasper hotel was below par any a 3* hotel. It was a motel that was not in good condition. Rocky Mountaineer was great. Vancouver metropolitan was excellent. Cruise was good and as expected but room(bathroom was very outdated. Maintyisdues were handled quickly but shower had mold/mildew and lots of plaster patches. Not what we expected for a high end tour.
